The perfect care routine for a Simpson shaving brush, although this actually applies to most shaving brushes:

Brush preparation
The Simpson shaving brush should be soaked in warm water for a few minutes before shaving, allowing the bristles to soften and retain heat. The correct water temperature should be warm enough to immerse your hand without causing excessive discomfort. Excessive heat may irreversibly damage the bristles.

Applying the shaving soap
Simpson does not recommend applying shaving soap directly to the face using circular motions. This action may make the bristles structurally more fragile near the base of the knot.

Final cleaning of your Simpson shaving brush
This is the most “critical” stage for any shaving brush. It is essential to make sure that all soap residue is removed from the knot by rinsing it thoroughly with clean warm water. Then gently squeeze the base of the knot to check that it is completely free from residue and, finally, stroke the bristles on a soft cloth. Allow the bristles to dry completely on a stand, if available, or in a well-ventilated area, such as near an open window. Let the brush dry completely between uses to prevent mould from forming, as this could damage the bristles. A proper drying cycle may take up to 48 hours. For this reason, purchasing a second Simpson shaving brush is highly recommended.
