The perfect care routine for a Simpson shaving brush (although it actually applies to most shaving brushes):

Brush preparation
The Simpson shaving brush should be soaked in warm water for a few minutes before shaving, allowing the bristles to soften and retain heat. The correct water temperature should be warm enough to let you immerse your hand without burning it excessively. Excessive heat could irreversibly damage the hair.

Applying the shaving soap
Simpson does not recommend applying shaving soap to the face using circular motions. This operation may make the hair structurally more fragile near its base.

Final cleaning of your Simpson shaving brush
This is the most “critical” phase for all brushes. It is necessary to make sure that all soap residue is removed from the knot by rinsing it with warm, clean water. Then gently squeeze the base of the knot to check whether it is completely free of residue and, finally, stroke the bristles on a soft cloth. Leave the hair to dry completely on a stand, if available, or in a ventilated area, such as near an open window. Allow the brush to dry completely between uses to prevent the formation of mould, which could damage the hair. A proper drying cycle may take up to 48 hours; for this reason, purchasing a second Simpson shaving brush is highly recommended.
